Saints of the Liturgical Year One of the greatest treasures of the Catholic Church is the holiness of its members. Among the members of the Catholic Church, there is a small and noble group of people that stand out as shining examples of holiness and goodness. English and local saints are often emphasised, and there are differences between the provinces' calendars. King Charles I of England is the only person to have been treated as a new saint by some Anglicans following the English Reformation, after which he was referred to as a martyr and included briefly in a calendar of the Book of Common Prayer.

These are listed alphabetically and cross indexed with a list of the saints featured in the book, making it easy to find either the saint or the cause. In each short selection, Finley describes the life of the saint and why he or she has been selected as a patron. Finley's popular style makes this book fun to read. A great resource to keep on. Patron Saints Medals and Their Meanings His most popular legend is the point at which he conveyed a tyke, who was obscure to him, over a waterway before the youngster uncovered himself as Christ. Hence he is the supporter holy person of voyagers, and little pictures of him are frequently worn around the neck, on a wrist trinket, conveyed in.

See Catholic Saints books, coloring pages, worksheets, and prayer cards below. The saints lived and died in the Faith and are encouraging examples to us. Children love the stories and adults see the real-life side of being Catholic.   One of the name books on my shelf is Dictionary of Patron Saints’ Names by Fr. Thomas Sheehan, in which he attempted to list many (most?) of the names in use in the English language that he could think of and say who would be the patron saint for each name, based on things like meaning, sound, attributes that kind of thing—a way of.
